Exhibition: Kraków Under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945
30.08.2010, 18:12
Quite recently, in June of this year, a new branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków has been opened. The former administrative building of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory at 4 Lipowa Street has been transformed into exhibition space. Now you have a possibility to see there a new permanent exhibition entitled Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945.
The exhibition tells a story about Kraków and its citizens, both Polish and Jewish during the
World War II, but also about the Nazi Germans – the occupiers who arrived here on the 6th of
September 1939 and brutally interrupted the centuries-long history of Polish-Jewish relations. The great history of WWII crosses here with everyday life; personal dramas coincide with the tragedy which affected the whole world.
In the 45 exhibition rooms the past of Krakow has been created in such way that each of the visitors could directly touch the history, feel the emotions of the city residents during the wartime. Multimedia section (30 interactive multimedia kiosks with touchscreens, 70 soundtracks, and 15
video projectors), create a modern and attractive form of communication with museum viewers.
