Local without the cigarette

“Local without the cigarette” is a nationwide social campaign, which is a continuation of activities launched after the international seminar “SmokeFree Europe”, organized by Manko Association in 2005. It’s a part of a broader programme of the social education realized through the all EU that aims to protect and respect the rights of non-smokers and to introduce the appropriate policies on tobacco control in Poland. In a wider perspective the campaign draws attention to the problem of passive smoking in public spaces, workspaces and at home, including passive smoking of children.

The main goal of the “Local without the cigarette” campaign is to create and promote a list of locals in Poland, in which was introduce a total ban of smoking or that have a separate rooms for non-smokers. In this way, a nationwide network of pubs, restaurants and cafes, which protects the health of their employees as well as customers, is created.

So if you want to go to the pub, restaurant or café and you are non-smoker just look for the special logo of the campaign that should be placed at the door of the local. For more information and the list of “places without the smoke”, check: www.polskabezpapierosa.pl/.
