What is worth mentioning here is that Student Canteens are located near the Universities so it is not difficult to find good and not expensive food. But what you should also know is that Cracow has a few hundred places where you can find international cuisine at low prices.
-How much do I have to pay for dinner?

- pierogi ruskie (dumplings with traditional filling made of cottage cheese, onion and ...): 9 zl
- kotlet schabowy z frytkami: (kotlet in crunchy layer with fries): 15 zl
- bigos (traditional Polish dish made of, among others, cabbage, mushrooms, meat): 8 zl
- kebab: 10 zl
- pizza margherita: 12 zl

It is possible to buy telephone cards that allows you to call from one of the many phones around. However, it is a good idea to as soon as possible let your tutor help you buy a SIM card for your mobile phone which provides you with a Polish mobile number. You will have access to Internet at the IPO but many student wants to use it and sometimes it is better to go to one of the many Internet cafes around the market square. - Hobbies, amusements 100-200zl
Sometimes you even get a discount for flashing your student card, so bring this with you.

INVESTING IN YOURSELF
Living on a student budget is not the easiest thing to do. Accommodation costs are relatively low and if you live on campus, you can save on transport costs which can be expensive. Other cost-saving options include a range of second-hand bookstores, student nights at most clubs and discounts at many local shops. Nevertheless individual students' living expenses differ, thus it is hard to estimate the avarage amount.
Your main costs as a student will be living expenses including accommodation, travel, entertainment, books food and clothing.
The following approximate prices will give you an idea of what costs you can expect. Please note that the tutition fees paid to the Universities does not cover accomodation or board.

Student hostels are available however, the number of rooms in the student dormitory is limited.

The public transport within Cracow is well developed with a network of bus and tram lines which are frequent, convenient and inexpensive. In the beginning you can buy a bunch of single fair tickets in one of the many kiosks. But for 420 Zloty you will get a 5 month travel pass which gives you access to all the trams and buses.
